Cookies and Local Storage
Effective 3 August 2026
MSG THE DJ currently uses only storage that is necessary to provide requested features, secure accounts or remember choices made on this device. We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
What we store
| Item | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
| MSG THE DJ session cookie | Signs users in, protects forms and keeps essential security state. A remembered Overlay app login can last up to 30 days. | Browser session, or up to 30 days when requested |
| Hosting security cookie | Our hosting provider's StackProtect service may use a short-lived cookie and, when traffic appears automated, a CAPTCHA to protect the site from bots and abuse. | Typically up to 1 hour |
| Cookie-notice preference | Uses local storage so we do not repeatedly show the same essential-storage notice. | Until browser storage is cleared |
| Guest display name | Uses local storage to remember the name or nickname a guest entered for a particular DJ link. | Until browser storage is cleared |
| Guest device identifier | Uses a random identifier in local storage to apply fair per-device rate limits, prevent abuse and produce anonymous unique-guest counts without storing a raw network address. | Until browser storage is cleared |
| DJ interface preferences | Uses local storage to remember choices such as live-feed flash alerts. | Until browser storage is cleared |
Your controls
You can block or delete cookies and local storage using browser settings. Blocking the session cookie will prevent account login and may stop forms or security controls from working. Clearing local storage removes saved device preferences and remembered guest names.
If we introduce optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential storage, we will update this notice and provide a choice before using it where consent is required.
